Foolproof recipe for versatile pie crust using common ingredients. Makes enough for three pies. Can be used immediately or stored in freezer.
Ingredients:
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 0.25 cup cold water
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
Instructions:
  • Combine flour and salt in a large bowl. Add shortening and mix until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • In a separate bowl, combine cold water, egg, and vinegar. Add this mixture to the flour and blend with a fork until a dough forms. Divide the dough into three equal parts, shape each into a disk, wrap in plastic, and chill in the fridge until needed.
