Effortlessly indulgent, soft and crumbly sugar cookies, no rolling pin required!
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ white whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar, powdered sugar, butter, oil, milk, vanilla, and eggs. Use an electric mixer or mix with a spoon until well-blended. Add flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Cover and refrigerate for about 2 hours until firm.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Roll dough into 1 1/2-inch balls, then coat them in 1/2 cup of granulated sugar in a small bowl. Place the sugared balls on an ungreased cookie sheet, spacing them about 3 inches apart. Flatten each ball to 1/4 inch thickness using the bottom of a drinking glass (re-grease the glass as needed with the dough). Sprinkle each cookie with a little extra sugar before baking.
  • Bake for 12 to 14 minutes until edges just start to brown and the cookies are set. Transfer to a cooling rack right away.
