Decadent cake with velvety texture, perfect with luscious cream cheese frosting.
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup butter, softened
  • 0.25 cup shortening
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground nutmeg
Instructions:
  • - Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together butter, shortening, and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt; fold into the mixture alternately with buttermilk until blended. Pour batter into the pan.
  • Bake in a preheated oven for 40 minutes until the cake springs back when lightly pressed in the center. Allow to cool completely before frosting.
