Sliced tart apples baked with lemon juice and a sweet oat, brown sugar, and walnut crumble topping until golden and tender.
Ingredients:
  • 5 cups thinly sliced apples
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 0.75 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect temperature to start cooking.
  • Combine crisp and tangy apples with freshly squeezed lemon juice and a touch of water in a shallow 2 quart baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, mix together flour, oats, sugar, nutmeg, and salt until well combined. Add butter or margarine and mix until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in walnuts and sprinkle over apples to cover completely.
  • Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the top turns a golden brown, then enjoy warm or at room temperature.
