Make a flavorful chicken dumpling dish by simmering a whole chicken with salt and pepper for a homemade stock.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (3 pound) whole chicken
  • 4 cubes chicken bouillon
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • In a large pot, generously cover a whole chicken with water. Bring to a boil, then simmer gently until the chicken is tender, which should take about 1 to 2 hours.
  • Take the chicken out of the broth and let it cool. Keep the broth for later use. Once the chicken has cooled down, separate the meat from the bones, then cut it into bite-sized pieces. Dispose of the skin and bones.
  • Combine flour and salt in a medium bowl. Add eggs one at a time, mixing until a stiff dough forms.
  • Bring the flavorful broth to a vigorous boil and whisk in the bouillon cubes until fully dissolved.
  • With a fork and knife, delicately pick up the dough and place it over the boiling broth. Cut off small pieces of dough into the broth until it is all used up. Give it a good stir, cover, and let it simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Stir in the chicken meat and serve while hot.
