One-pan cheesy French onion pork

Try our delicious cheesy pork one-pan wonder - your new favorite easy weeknight meal!
Ingredients:
  • 36.40 gm extra virgin olive oil
  • 500g pork steak
  • 25g butter
  • 2 brown onions, halved, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 20.00 ml plain flour
  • 125.00 gm dry white wine
  • 255.00 gm Chicken Style Liquid Stock
  • 24.40 gm Worcestershire sauce
  • 16.00 gm brown sugar
  • 4 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 250.00 ml grated gruyere cheese
  • Chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley, to serve
  • Steamed broccolini, to serve
  • Crusty bread, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 200C (180C fan-forced).
  • Heat oil in a large ovenproof frying pan over medium-high heat until shimmering. Brown pork in batches for 2 minutes on each side. Transfer pork to a plate.
  • In the same pan, melt butter and sauté the onion until just starting to soften, stirring occasionally. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant. Sprinkle in the flour and cook until the onion is well coated, adding more butter if necessary. Pour in the wine and simmer briefly. Stir in the stock, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, and thyme. Season with salt and pepper, then bring to a boil.
  • - Cover the pan and bake until the onion softens, about 10 minutes. - Arrange the pork on top of the onion mixture and sprinkle with cheese, then season with pepper. - Bake uncovered for 5 to 10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the pork is cooked through. - Finish by sprinkling with chopped parsley and serve alongside steamed broccolini and crusty bread.
