Buttery slice with zesty orange drizzle, a perfect afternoon tea indulgence.
Ingredients:
  • 180g white chocolate, chopped
  • 125g butter, chopped
  • 2 eggs
  • 155g (3/4 cup) caster sugar
  • 80ml (1/3 cup) orange juice
  • 20.00 ml finely grated orange rind
  • 100g (2/3 cup) plain flour
  • 75g (1/2 cup) self-raising flour
  • Candied orange peel (optional), to serve
  • Edible orange blossoms (optional), to serve
  • 80g (1/2 cup) icing sugar
  • 31.50 gm fresh orange juice
  • 2 tsp finely grated orange rind
Instructions:
  • - Preheat your oven to 170C (150C fan forced) and generously grease a 16 x 26cm slice pan with baking paper, leaving the paper to hang over the sides.
  • Melt the chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water, ensuring the bowl doesn't touch the water. Stir with a metal spoon until smooth and well combined. Let it cool slightly before using.
  • Whisk eggs and sugar until sugar dissolves. Add orange juice and rind. Stir in chocolate mixture. Gently fold in combined flours. Pour into pan and bake for 30 minutes until set. Cool in pan, then transfer to wire rack using paper sling.
  • For the orange drizzle, combine the sifted icing sugar with the juice and rind in a bowl until smooth. Pour the icing over the slice and let it firm up. Garnish with candied orange peel and orange blossoms for an extra touch of flavor.
