Cheesy baked penne with savory ground beef, rich tomato sauce, and creamy ricotta.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 pound penne pasta
  • 0.5 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 (26 ounce) jar pasta sauce
  • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease a 2 1/2 quart baking dish.
  • Bring a generously salted pot of water to a boil. Cook pasta until al dente, about 8 to 10 minutes; then drain.
  • Cook the beef in a large skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat. Stir in the pasta sauce, then remove from heat.
  • Combine ricotta, 1 cup of mozzarella, Parmesan, and a beaten egg in a bowl, stirring until fully mixed.
  • Create a decadent layer by alternately arranging half of the pasta, sauce, and cheese mixture twice. Finish with the remaining mozzarella on top.
  • Bake until golden and bubbly, about 34-40 minutes in a preheated oven.
