Chewy peanut butter bars, a nostalgic treat from childhood.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.5 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 0.33300000429153 cup peanut butter
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 0.5 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) and generously grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • Cream the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth in a large bowl. Add the egg, 1/3 cup peanut butter, and vanilla; beat well. Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt until combined, then mix in the rolled oats. Spread the dough evenly in the prepared pan.
  • Bake in a preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes until the edges are firm. After removing from the oven, sprinkle a single layer of chocolate chips on top. Let sit for 5 minutes, then spread the melted chocolate to cover. Allow to cool. In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup peanut butter and confectioners' sugar until smooth. Gradually stir in milk, one tablespoon at a time, until it reaches a drizzling consistency. Drizzle over the cooled bars and cut into bars.
