Indulge in a mouthwatering pear pie with a delectable crumb topping.
Ingredients:
  • 7 medium pears, peeled, cut into 1/2-inch slices (about 5 cups)
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 frozen pie crust (9 inch)
  • 1/2 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground mace
  • 1/3 cup cold butter or margarine
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, delicately mix together pears, 3/4 cup of sugar, lemon peel, and lemon juice. Fill the frozen pie crust with the mixture.
  • Mix flour, 1/2 cup sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and mace in a medium bowl. Incorporate butter using a pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle over pears and place pie on a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 1 hour until pears are tender and topping is lightly browned. Then, cool on a rack for about 2 hours.
