Elevate your Halloween cake with spooky ghost marshmallow toppings for a fun and festive touch!
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Devil's Food Cake Mix
  • Water, oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • Betty Crocker™ black decorating gel or icing
  • Betty Crocker™ orange or white decorating gel or icing
  • 4 oval-shaped chocolate-filled vanilla sandwich cookies
  • 3 miniature chocolate candy bars
  • 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Chocolate Frosting
  • 1/2 cup chocolate cookie crumbs
  • 4 PEEPS® brand marshmallow ghosts
  • 4 toothpicks
  • 58 pretzel sticks
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Grease 2 (8- or 9-inch) round cake pans with cooking spray and optionally line the bottoms with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  • Prepare and bake the cake following the instructions on the box for two 8- or 9-inch round cake pans. After baking, let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a cooling rack to cool completely for about 1 hour. While the cakes are cooling, decorate oval-shaped cookies and miniature candy bars with RIP using black and orange gel or icing.
  • Place the first cake layer on a serving plate, rounded side down. Spread about 1/3 cup of the chocolate frosting over the top of the cake layer. Add the second layer on top, rounded side up. Frost the sides and top of the cake with the remaining frosting.
  • Decorate the top of the cake by sprinkling chocolate cookie crumbs to create a dirt effect. Place cookies and candy bars into the cake to make tombstones. Secure ghost-shaped marshmallows onto the cake by inserting a toothpick into each one and then into the cake.
  • Break 8 pretzel sticks into thirds. Use a combination of whole pretzels and pretzel thirds to create a fence around the edge of the cake, following the photo for guidance.
