Spicy vodka pasta with garlic, Italian sausage, and red pepper flakes in a creamy tomato vodka sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound uncooked penne pasta
  • 0.25 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 (3.5 ounce) links sweet Italian sausage
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.5 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 0.75 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons vodka
  • 0.25 cup chopped fresh parsley
Instructions:
  • 1. Boil generously salted water in a large pot. Add penne and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 11 minutes until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, heat oil. Remove sausage casing and add to skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until sausage is crumbled and browned, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking until garlic is golden brown.
  • Combine the fresh tomatoes with a pinch of salt in a pot, bring to a gentle boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Pour in the velvety cream and a splash of vibrant vodka into the pot. Let it all come to a beautiful boil. Lower the heat and introduce the pasta, tossing it gently for one minute. Sprinkle in the fresh parsley and serve this delightful dish warm.
