Festive holiday chocolate chip cookies with white chocolate chips and crushed candy canes for a beautiful and delicious touch.
Ingredients:
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup vegetable shortening
  • 0.75 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.75 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 2 cups white chocolate chips
  • 6 peppermint candy canes, crushed - or more to taste
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. In a separate large bowl, beat butter, vegetable shortening, light brown sugar, and white sugar until creamy. Add eggs, vanilla and peppermint extracts, and red food coloring to the butter mixture, and mix until smooth. Gradually incorporate dry ingredients into wet ingredients until the dough is smooth. Fold in white chocolate chips and crushed candy canes.
  • Take 1 tablespoon of dough, shape into balls, and place them on ungreased baking sheets. Gently press cookies down with the bottom of a drinking glass.
  • Place the cookie dough in the preheated oven and bake for 9 to 10 minutes until the cookies are set but not browned. Allow them to cool on the baking sheets for 2 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to finish cooling.
