Impress guests with quick and tasty basil pastry pinwheels, ideal Christmas appetizers, ready in just 30 minutes.
Ingredients:
  • 1 package (17 1/4 ounces) frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 cup pesto
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Roll out each sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a 14x10 inch rectangle.
  • Evenly spread 1/2 cup of pesto over each pastry rectangle, leaving a 1/2 inch border along the long sides. Roll the pastry loosely from the 10-inch side, brush the edge with egg, and pinch to seal.
  • Slice each roll into 1/2-inch pieces with a sharp knife. Arrange on a baking sheet without greasing. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until golden brown. Enjoy warm.
