Indulge in our Philly Cheesesteak: Thinly sliced steak, onions, provolone cheese, and Cheez Whiz blend perfectly for a taste of Philadelphia anytime! Easy and delicious.
Ingredients:
  • 10-12 ounces ribeye steak
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1/2 sweet onion, sliced
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 ounces (3 slices) provolone cheese
  • 2 hoagie rolls, toasted
  • 1/4 cup Cheez Whiz, warmed
  • Fresh thyme, for garnish, optional
Instructions:
  • Chill and slice the steak for thin pieces: Pop the steak in the freezer for 10 minutes on a sheet pan to get it super cold but not completely frozen. Remove any excess fat from the edges, leaving some marbling in the middle. Using a sharp knife, slice the steak as thinly as you can manage. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  • Caramelize the onions and peppers: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and peppers, season with 1/4 teaspoon of salt and pepper. Cook until softened and edges start to caramelize, about 12 to 15 minutes. Enjoy the process!
  • Heat a griddle or large skillet over medium-high heat with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add sliced steak in a single layer, ensuring it covers the skillet well. Cook briefly, stir, and continue cooking for a total of 2-4 minutes until done to your preference.
  • Reduce heat to low, then mix in peppers and onions with the steak. Place provolone slices on top of the steak mixture and let them melt. Stir everything together once the cheese is melted.
  • To serve the cheesesteaks: Fill the toasted hoagie rolls generously with the cheesesteak mixture. Consider adding warm Cheez Whiz for extra cheesiness. Top with fresh thyme before serving. Enjoy the dish and share your feedback with a rating and review!
