Easy sliders inspired by Philly's steak and cheese sandwich, with provolone, mushrooms, and Hawaiian rolls.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound sirloin steak, cut into 1/8-inch strips
  • 1 pinch meat tenderizer
  • 1 splash olive oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 0.5 cup minced bell pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, or to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 cups canned sliced mushrooms
  • 1 (12 count) package Hawaiian-style dinner rolls, sliced in half
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
Instructions:
  • Position oven rack 6 inches below the broiler and preheat broiler. Combine steak and meat tenderizer in a bowl.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, warm up olive oil. Add onion and bell pepper, sauté until slightly softened for about 3 minutes. Incorporate the steak mixture, cook until flavors meld for about 3 minutes. Season with Italian seasoning and pepper, then add mushrooms. Cook until steak is mostly browned for about 3 minutes.
  • Spread the steak mixture evenly on the bottom half of the dinner rolls and lay provolone cheese slices on top. Transfer to a baking sheet.
  • Broil until the cheese is bubbly, for about 1 to 3 minutes, then remove. Top with dinner roll tops and broil until golden brown, for another 1 to 2 minutes.
