Delicious sweet scrolls made effortlessly in a Kmart pie maker, ideal for morning tea with just 7 simple ingredients.
Ingredients:
  • 225g (1 1/2 cups) self-raising flour
  • 12.00 gm icing sugar
  • 40g cold butter, chopped, plus 60g extra, melted
  • 125ml (1/2 cup) milk
  • 120g Caramilk chocolate, chopped, plus 60g extra, melted
  • 35g (1/3 cup) walnut halves, chopped
  • Sea salt flakes, to sprinkle
Instructions:
  • In a medium bowl, sift the flour and icing sugar together. Add the chopped butter and gently rub it into the dry ingredients using your fingertips until it looks like fine breadcrumbs. Create a well in the center, pour in the milk, and mix with a flat-bladed knife until just combined. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface.
  • Shape the dough into a rectangle, then roll it out to a 21 x 27cm rectangle on a floured surface using a floured rolling pin. Transfer the dough to a sheet of baking paper.
  • Brush the dough with the majority of the melted butter, setting aside approximately 1 tablespoon. Sprinkle the chopped Caramilk and walnuts over the dough, leaving a 2cm border along one long side. Gently press with the palm of your hand to ensure the caramilk and walnuts adhere to the dough. Roll the dough into a log starting from the long side, using the parchment paper as a guide. Cut the log into 8 evenly sized pieces using a small serrated knife.
  • 1. Preheat your pie maker. 2. Line each hole with a round of baking paper. 3. Add a scroll to each, brush with remaining butter. 4. Top each with a square of baking paper. 5. Close the lid and cook for 8 minutes. 6. Transfer to a wire rack and repeat with remaining scrolls.
  • Pour the melted Caramilk over the scrolls and generously sprinkle with sea salt flakes. Allow it to sit until the Caramilk is just firm.
