Skip the cafe and make delicious fritters at home using your pie maker.
Ingredients:
  • 500.00 ml Baby Peas
  • 225g haloumi, coarsely grated
  • 99.00 gm self-raising flour
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 40.00 ml chopped fresh mint leaves
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 128.75 gm milk
  • Poached eggs (see notes), to serve
  • Tomato relish, to serve
Instructions:
  • Boil peas in a saucepan until tender, about 2 minutes. Drain and return to the pan. Roughly mash peas with a potato masher and transfer to a large bowl.
  • Combine the haloumi, flour, onion, garlic, mint, egg, and milk in a bowl. Season generously with salt and pepper and thoroughly mix everything together.
  • Turn on your pie maker to get it nice and hot.
  • Divide the batter evenly into each pie maker hole and close it. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes until golden and cooked through. Repeat with the rest of the batter. Serve the fritters with poached eggs and tomato relish.
