Create adorable butter cakes in a Kmart pie maker, inspired by classic chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla ice cream flavors with just a few simple ingredients.
Ingredients:
  • 180g butter, chopped, at room temperature
  • 155g (3/4 cup) caster sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 225g (1 1/2 cups) self-raising flour
  • 80ml (1/3 cup) milk
  • 10.00 gm cocoa powder
  • 3 drops red food colouring
Instructions:
  • In a bowl, beat the butter and sugar with electric beaters until pale and creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift in the flour and gently fold until just combined. Pour in 60ml (1/4 cup) milk and fold to combine. Divide the mixture evenly among 3 small bowls.
  • Fold the cocoa powder and remaining 1 tablespoon of milk into one portion until combined. In a separate bowl, fold the red food coloring until evenly colored.
  • Preheat the pie maker, then lightly place 1 tablespoon of chocolate cake mixture, followed by vanilla and strawberry cake mixtures into each hole. Close the lid, restart the pie maker, and cook for 8 minutes, or until cakes spring back in the center when lightly touched.
  • Place the cakes on a wire rack to cool. Do this in two more batches until you have made a total of 12 cakes. Remember to switch off the pie maker as you spoon in the cake mixtures.
