Requires a pizzelle iron for authentic Italian cookies.
Ingredients:
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons anise extract
  • 0.75 cup butter, melted
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup anise seed
Instructions:
  • Heat up the pizzelle iron.
  • Combine eggs and sugar in a medium bowl. Gradually blend in melted butter, vanilla, and anise extract. Fold in flour, baking powder, and anise seeds. For a thicker cookie, mix in an additional 1/2 cup of flour.
  • Spoon rounded tablespoons of cookie dough onto the center of the waffle iron. Close the iron and cook until steaming subsides, about 30 to 90 seconds, depending on the iron.
