Try our revamped hearty porridge for breakfast!
Ingredients:
  • 2 granny smith apples, peeled, cored, cut into 3cm pieces
  • 2 pears, peeled, cored, cut into 3cm pieces
  • 53.75 gm caster sugar
  • 150.00 gm traditional rolled oats
  • Pinch of salt
  • 24.00 gm brown sugar
  • 40.40 gm pure cream
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan over medium-low heat, mix together apple, pear, caster sugar, and 1 tablespoon of cold water. Stir and cook for 3 minutes until the sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer covered for 10 minutes until the fruit is tender but the compote is still chunky.
  • In a saucepan over high heat, bring 3 cups of cold water to a boil. Stir in oats and salt and let it come to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and cook, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon, for about 5 minutes until the porridge thickens (it should coat the spoon). Remove from heat, cover, and let it stand for 5 minutes to cool and thicken slightly. Finally, stir in brown sugar. Enjoy!
  • Mix most of the compote into the porridge, spoon into bowls, and top with the rest of the compote. Finish with a drizzle of cream and serve.
