Elevate store-bought cake mix with homemade praline topping that caramelizes beautifully in the oven.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 0.75 cup chopped pecans
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • Bake cake mix in a 9x13 inch pan as directed on the package. Let the cake cool in the pan. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Combine brown sugar, flour, butter, and egg in a large saucepan over low heat for 3 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat, add pecans and vanilla, then spread over cake. Bake in preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
