Ingredients:
  • 250g whole almonds
  • Vegetable oil, for greasing
  • 220g (1 cup) sugar
  • 60mls (1/4 cup) water
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C.
  • Arrange almonds on a baking tray and bake in a preheated oven until aromatic, about 5-8 minutes. Allow to cool after removing from oven.
  • Grease a flat baking tray with vegetable oil and evenly spread the toasted almonds on it.
  • In a small, heavy-based saucepan, melt sugar with water over low heat until dissolved. Let it boil untouched for 10-15 minutes until golden. Remove from heat and let bubbles settle. Pour over almonds on a tray and cool completely.
  • Crush the toffee into small pieces on a chopping board using a rolling pin or a food processor. Transfer the coarsely crushed toffee into an airtight container for storage.
