"Easy and elegant cherry crostata with flaky puff pastry crust."
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 (17.3 ounce) package frozen Puff Pastry Sheets, thawed
  • 1 pound sweet cherries, pitted and halved
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon turbinado sugar, or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon orange marmalade (optional)
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out the chilled puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into an 11 to 12-inch round. Trim edges to form a circle and transfer to the baking sheet.
  • Combine cherries, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, almond extract, and salt in a bowl until cherries are fully coated. Spoon the cherry mixture onto the center of the pastry, leaving a 2-inch border. Fold the edges of the crust over the cherry mixture, overlapping to enclose it.
  • Create a silky egg wash by whisking together an egg and water. Gently brush the pastry edges with the egg wash, then generously sprinkle with turbinado for a delightful touch of sweetness and crunch.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 23 to 30 minutes until cherries are tender and the crust is golden brown. Heat marmalade in the microwave for 15 to 20 seconds until melted, then drizzle over the cherries to glaze.
  • Let it cool for 15 minutes before slicing into wedges and serving.
