Delicious homemade pull-apart bread with yeast - a must-have addition to any meal.
Ingredients:
  • Cooking spray to grease pan
  • 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour or Better for Bread™ bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package regular or fast-acting dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine (1/2 stick)
  • 1 large egg
Instructions:
  • Grease a 12-cup fluted tube cake pan or 10-inch angel food (tube) cake pan. Combine 1 1/2 cups of flour with sugar, salt, and yeast in a large bowl and mix well.
  • In a 1-quart saucepan, warm the milk and 1/4 cup butter over medium-low heat until it reaches 120°F to 130°F. Add the milk mixture and egg to the flour mixture. Mix with an electric mixer on low for 1 minute until moistened. Beat on medium for 3 minutes, then stir in remaining flour until soft and easy to handle.
  • Dust a countertop or large cutting board with flour. Transfer dough onto the floured surface. Knead by folding dough towards you, then pushing it away with a rocking motion using the heels of your hands. Rotate dough a quarter turn and repeat. Keep kneading for about 5 minutes, sprinkling more flour if needed, until dough is smooth and springy.
  • Melt 1/4 cup butter in a small microwave-safe bowl, covered with a paper towel, on High for 30 to 50 seconds.
  • Form the dough into 24 balls, coat each one in melted butter, and arrange them evenly in the pan. Cover the bowl loosely with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm spot for 20 to 30 minutes until the dough doubles in size. Check readiness by pressing your fingertips about 1/2 inch into the dough to ensure an indentation remains. Remove the plastic wrap before proceeding.
  • Position the oven rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 350°F.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until beautifully golden. Let the bread cool in the pan for 2 minutes. Invert a heatproof serving plate on top of the pan, then carefully turn both over together. Lift off the pan and enjoy the warm bread by tearing it apart with forks or your hands.
