Versatile buttercream frosting: creamy, fluffy, tintable for any occasion, ideal for piping and decorating.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
  • 1.5 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 3 drops food coloring, or as needed
Instructions:
  • In a stand mixer bowl with a paddle attachment, beat the butter until smooth and fluffy.
  • Slowly incorporate confectioners' sugar until well mixed.
  • Incorporate vanilla extract into the mixture with a brisk stirring motion.
  • Pour in the milk and whip vigorously for 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Mix in food coloring, if desired, and beat for 30 seconds until the mixture is smooth and reaches the desired color.
  • Enjoy the buttercream right away or keep it fresh in a sealed container at room temperature for up to three days.
