Bake delicious and colorful butter cookies with Betty Crocker® sugar cookie mix for a delightful treat!
Ingredients:
  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix
  • 1/2 cup margarine or butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 3 food colors
  • White coarse sugar crystals or granulated sugar, if desired
  • 1/2 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Mix cookie mix, margarine, flour, and egg until a soft dough forms. Divide the dough evenly among 3 bowls and add a few drops of your favorite food coloring to each bowl for a vibrant touch. Feel free to make multiple batches for a rainbow of colorful cookies.
  • Shape 1/3 cup of each colored dough into a 5-inch long and 1-inch diameter rope. Arrange the ropes side by side, slightly more than 1/4 inch apart on a floured surface, and roll them until they are 1/4 inch thick. Use a 2 to 2 1/2-inch egg-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookies with three colors each. Sprinkle with sugar and place them 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Repeat the process with the remaining dough. When rerolling dough scraps, ensure to match colors and for marbled cookies, mix the dough scraps carefully without overmixing to keep distinct colors.
  • Bake for 7 to 9 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Let them cool for 1 minute on the cookie sheet, then transfer to a wire rack. Allow to cool completely for about 30 minutes. Spread frosting on the bottom of half of the cookies and sandwich them with the remaining cookies.
