Indulge in authentic Canadian butter tarts with sweet maple syrup, brown sugar, and plump raisins for a true taste of Canada.
Ingredients:
  • 12 (3 inch) unbaked tart shells
  • 0.75 cup raisins
  • 0.25 cup butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup packed brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 0.5 cup chopped walnuts, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) and arrange tart shells on a baking sheet. Evenly sprinkle raisins into each shell.
  • In a bowl, whisk together butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, vanilla, and salt until smooth. Add the egg and mix well. Pour the mixture into tart shells and sprinkle walnuts on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the pastry is golden brown and the filling is bubbling, approximately 12 minutes. Let it cool on a wire rack for about 10 minutes before serving.
