Perfect Egg Custard Pie inspired by a beloved restaurant's recipe, perfected after numerous trials!
Ingredients:
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 (9 inch) refrigerated pie crust
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to a toasty 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  • In a large bowl, mix eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla until just combined. Set aside. In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, combine milk and butter. Stir constantly with a wire whisk until the milk boils rapidly, about 5 to 8 minutes. Be sure to keep stirring non-stop to prevent burning. Gradually pour the hot mixture into the egg mixture while stirring continuously.
  • Press dough into a 9-inch pan. Fill crust with custard mixture and shield crust edges with aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 8 to 10 minutes until filling is slightly jiggly. Let it cool before serving.
