Indulge in delicious cheesy roasted beef sandwiches with Pillsbury™ French bread and sweet caramelized onions.
Ingredients:
  • 1 can (11 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Original French Bread
  • 1 red onion, sliced, separated into rings
  • 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 lb thinly sliced cooked roast beef (from deli)
  • 10 slices (3/4 oz each) provolone cheese
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a cookie sheet. Lay the dough on the sheet, seam side down. Use a sharp knife to make 4 or 5 diagonal cuts (about 1/4 inch deep) on top of the loaf.
  • Bake for 26 to 30 minutes until loaf is beautifully golden. Let it cool completely for about 20 minutes.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt butter. Add onions and brown sugar and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions are tender. Pour in water, reduce heat to medium-low, and continue cooking for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions are golden and glazed.
  • Preheat the broiler. Slice the loaf in half lengthwise. Spread mustard on both cut sides of the loaf. Layer roast beef, onions, and cheese on each half. Transfer the sandwich halves onto a baking sheet.
  • Place under the broiler, positioned about 3 inches away from the heat source, for 2 to 3 minutes until the cheese is melted and lightly golden brown. Slice before serving.
