Delicious saffron-buttered onion rice, perfect for special occasions!
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 0.25 cup diced onion
  • 1 cup uncooked long grain white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
  • 1 pinch saffron threads
  • 3 drops yellow food coloring
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until sizzling. Add the onion, sauté until soft and translucent for about 5 minutes. Lower the heat to medium-low and caramelize the onion until deep brown and tender, for 15 to 20 more minutes.
  • Add the rice into the pan and mix gently to ensure it's coated evenly. Incorporate the water, parsley flakes, saffron, and 3 drops of optional yellow food coloring. Lower the heat, cover the pan, and let it simmer until the water is fully absorbed, around 30 minutes.
