Easy and vibrant Japanese classic that's fresh and healthy.
Ingredients:
  • 3 nori sheets, halved lengthways
  • 600.00 gm prepared sushi rice (see related recipe)
  • 100g sushi-grade salmon, cut into 1cm-thick batons (see note)
  • 40.00 ml salmon roe
  • Japanese soy sauce, to serve
  • Wasabi, to serve
  • Pickled ginger, to serve
Instructions:
  • 1. Lay a sushi mat horizontally in front of you on a clean surface. 2. Put a nori sheet on the mat with the shiny-side facing down. 3. With wet hands, evenly spread one-sixth of the rice over the nori sheet, leaving a 2cm border along the top edge.
  • Lay a piece of salmon in the middle of the rice. Secure the filling and roll the mat to wrap the rice and filling. Repeat the process with the rest of the nori, rice, and salmon.
  • Slice the sushi into 3cm-long pieces with a sharp knife and place them cut-side up on a platter. Top each sushi piece with a dollop of salmon roe and serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger.
