Delicious Saskatoon pie made with serviceberries in a flaky pie crust, bursting with fruity apple flavor, perfectly balanced sweetness.
Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups fresh serviceberries
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 (14.1 ounce) package double-crust pie pastry, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, cut into pieces
Instructions:
  • Prepare your ingredients.
  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Mix sugar and flour in a bowl.
  • In a large saucepan, gently cook the berries with water for 10 minutes until they are soft. Add lemon juice, then mix in the sugar mixture until well combined.
  • Fit one pie pastry into a 9-inch pie pan, then fill with berry mixture and dot with butter.
  • Place the second pie pastry on top and seal by fluting the edges.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then lower the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for an additional 35-45 minutes until the crust is golden brown.
