Platanos are sweet cooking bananas popular in South America and the Caribbean, perfect for adding sweetness to any meal.
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup peanut oil for frying
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 yellow plantains (very ripe), peeled and cut in 1-inch-thick slices
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • Gather all your ingredients and heat peanut oil and butter in a large skillet on medium-high heat until the butter starts to sizzle.
  • Coat plantain slices with brown sugar, then carefully place in hot oil. Fry until golden brown, flip, and cook until caramelized, around 2 minutes per side.
  • Drain plantains on paper towel, then sprinkle with salt before serving.
