Delicious scalloped potatoes with creamy milk sauce, no cheese, for a simple and flavorful side dish.
Ingredients:
  • 3 pounds potatoes, thinly sliced
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 9 tablespoons all-purpose flour, divided
  • 6 tablespoons butter, diced
  • 1 quart whole milk, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • First, arrange a third of the potatoes at the base of the baking dish and generously season with salt and pepper. Next, sprinkle 3 tablespoons of flour over the potatoes and evenly distribute a third of the butter. Repeat this process two more times. Finally, pour milk into the dish until it reaches 3/4 full.
  • Bake in a preheated oven, checking every 15 minutes, until the milk boils, about 45 to 60 minutes. Then reduce heat to 375°F (190°C) and keep baking until the potatoes are tender, another 45 to 60 minutes.
