Indulge in a nostalgic twist on classic cafeteria spaghetti for a comforting meal.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 0.5 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 envelope dry Italian salad dressing mix (such as Good Seasons®)
  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1 (26 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
  • 1 (16 ounce) package spaghetti
  • 4 cups grated sharp Cheddar cheese
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C), then generously grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish with cooking spray.
  • In a wide pan over medium-high heat, cook onion and bell pepper in hot oil until soft, for about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Combine Italian dressing mix with ground beef, cook in a hot pan until browned and crumbly for 5 to 7 minutes. Drain any excess fat. Stir in spaghetti sauce and simmer over medium heat for 15 minutes.
  • While you wait, bring a big pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti until it's tender but still slightly firm, approximately 12 minutes. Drain and combine with the beef mixture. Transfer everything to the casserole dish and sprinkle Cheddar cheese on top.
  • Bake until the cheese is golden brown, around 10 minutes in the preheated oven.
