Irresistible caramel frosting for any cake.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup half-and-half cream
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 0.33333334326744 cup chopped pecans
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add brown sugar and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Pour in half-and-half cream and salt, stir well, and bring to a boil again. Remove caramel from heat and let it cool to lukewarm before adding vanilla.
  • Using an electric mixer, delicately blend in confectioners' sugar until velvety smooth, being cautious not to overmix. If frosting thickens, simply add hot water to reach desired consistency. Smooth over a cooled cake, sprinkle with pecans, and let the frosting set for roughly 15 minutes before serving.
