Indulgent shrimp and mushrooms in a rich port wine garlic sauce over angel hair pasta. Pair with wine, salad, and garlic bread for a delectable meal.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound angel hair pasta
  • 0.25 cup butter, divided
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined and butterflied
  • 1.5 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 4 tablespoons chopped shallots
  • 0.5 cup port wine
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 1 pint heavy cream
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • salt to taste
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground white pepper
Instructions:
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta until al dente, about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain and rinse with cold water.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt a decadent tablespoon of butter. Sauté mushrooms until they are irresistibly soft. Season with a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors, then set aside.
  • Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Cook the shrimp for a few minutes until they are perfectly seasoned with salt. Set aside.
  • Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Saute shallots for a few minutes until fragrant. Add port wine, white wine, and cream. Simmer over medium-low heat until the sauce thickens.
  • Combine mushrooms, shrimp, garlic, salt, sugar, and ground white pepper into the pasta; mix well and serve.
