Create a stunning flower cake with easy gumdrop petals. Roll gumdrops with a rolling pin for perfect petals.
Ingredients:
  • Water, oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting
  • 45 sugar-coated gum drops in assorted colors
  • 1 miniature marshmallow
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans) and generously grease 2 (8-inch) round cake pans with shortening or cooking spray.
  • Prepare and bake the cake mix according to the instructions on the box for two 8-inch round pans. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to cooling racks to cool completely for about 1 hour. For improved handling, chill or freeze the cakes for 30 minutes to 1 hour until firm.
  • Place one cake layer on a serving plate with the rounded side down. Spread half a cup of frosting on top. Add the second cake layer with the rounded side up. Frost the top and sides of the cake with the rest of the frosting.
  • Roll gumdrops into oval shapes on a sugared surface using a rolling pin.
  • Arrange 23 gumdrop ovals around the cake's edge, overlapping slightly. Create a second circle with 15 gumdrops inside the first circle. Finally, use the remaining 7 gumdrops to form a circle in the center. Complete the flower by adding a miniature marshmallow in the middle.
