Simple Gum Drop Polka Dot Cake

Use gum drops to make a vibrant, fun polka dot birthday cake effortlessly!
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Yellow Cake Mix
  • Water, oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting
  • 40 sugar-coated gum drops in assorted colors
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans) and generously grease 2 (8-inch) round cake pans with shortening or cooking spray.
  • Prepare and bake the cake mix following the instructions on the box for two 8-inch round cake pans. Allow the cakes to cool for 10 minutes, then gently remove them from the pans onto cooling racks. Let the cakes cool completely for about 1 hour. For more convenient handling, refrigerate or freeze the cakes for 30 minutes to 1 hour until firm.
  • Place one cake layer on a serving plate, rounded side down. Spread with half a cup of the frosting. Add the second cake layer, rounded side up. Frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting.
  • Roll gumdrops on a sugared surface to shape into circles, then decorate the sides and top of the cake with the circles.
