Irresistible Christmas shortbread cookies made with pantry staples.
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups butter at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon colored sugar, or to taste
Instructions:
  • First, preheat your oven to 275 degrees F (135 degrees C). Then, generously butter a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • Combine 4 cups and 2 tablespoons of flour, butter, and white sugar in a bowl, and mix until fully incorporated using your hands. Press dough into the baking pan, smoothing it out with waxed paper and pressing firmly. Finally, prick the dough with a fork through the paper, then remove the waxed paper.
  • Bake the shortbread in the preheated oven until lightly browned, approximately 1 1/2 hours. Turn off the oven, remove the pan, cut the shortbread into 1-inch squares, then return the pan to the oven until completely cooled.
  • Sprinkle shortbread with vibrant colored sugar, then gently lift squares out of the pan and place them in an airtight container for storage.
