Creamy slow cooker scalloped potatoes with garlic and cheesy homemade sauce, a simple and delectable side dish.
Ingredients:
  • 5 large russet potatoes, halved and thinly sliced
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cups milk
  • 4 tablespoons chopped garlic
  • 1 (16 ounce) package shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
Instructions:
  • Coat the slow cooker generously with cooking spray. Arrange a layer of potatoes at the bottom and season with salt and pepper. Repeat layering until all potatoes are used.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Whisk in flour until it bubbles. Stir constantly for 1 to 2 minutes. Gradually pour in milk, whisking continuously until thickened, for 5 to 10 minutes. Add garlic and stir in.
  • Take the mixture off the heat and stir in the Cheddar cheese until melted, returning it briefly to the heat if needed to avoid scorching. Pour the cheese sauce over the potatoes and gently shake the slow cooker to ensure even distribution without stirring.
  • Slow cook for 8 hours on Low or 4 hours on High until the potatoes are tender and fully cooked.
