Make delicious Italian-inspired turkey meatballs in a slow cooker.
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup minced onion
  • 1 tablespoon Italian-style salad dressing
  • 1.5 pounds ground turkey
  • 1.25 cups Italian-seasoned bread crumbs
  • 5 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans Italian-style diced tomatoes
  • 1 (26 ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
Instructions:
  • Sauté onion in Italian dressing in a small pan over medium heat for 5 minutes. Allow to cool for about 5 minutes off the heat.
  • Mix together the turkey, breadcrumbs, garlic, sautéed onions, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until fully combined.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together diced tomatoes, marinara sauce, and dried basil; set aside.
  • Shape half of the turkey mixture into 1 1/2-inch meatballs and arrange them at the bottom of a slow cooker. Pour half of the diced tomato mixture over the meatballs. Shape the rest of the turkey mixture into meatballs and layer them with the remaining tomato mixture.
  • Cook on Low for 8 hours or High for 4 hours, covered.
