Delectable Venison Sloppy Joes feature tender stew meat, crispy bacon, and onions in a rich, tangy sauce with brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, ketchup, and spices.
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 pound bacon
  • 2 pounds venison stew meat
  • 1 large yellow onion, chopped
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon prepared Dijon-style mustard
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • Fry bacon until crispy in a large skillet. Remove, crumble, and set aside. Brown stew meat in the bacon grease for extra flavor.
  • Combine onion, brown sugar, vinegar, cumin, chili powder, garlic, mustard, ketchup, salt, and pepper in a slow cooker, mixing thoroughly. Stir in bacon and venison until well combined.
  • Slow cook for a minimum of 8 hours until the meat is tender enough to shred with a fork, creating a deliciously thick Sloppy Joe-style barbecue.
