Simplify entertaining with effortless slow cooker French Dip sandwiches.
Ingredients:
  • 1 boneless beef chuck roast (3 lb)
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary leaves
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 dried bay leaf
  • 3 or 4 peppercorns
  • 2 loaves (1 lb each) French bread
Instructions:
  • Keep the beef roast in the netting or ties if it comes that way. Place the beef in a 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine the remaining ingredients except for the bread, then pour over the beef.
  • Cover and simmer on low heat for 7 to 8 hours.
  • Remove any excess fat from the surface of the juices in the cooker and discard the bay leaf and peppercorns. Transfer the beef to a cutting board, remove any netting or strings, and thinly slice the beef. Cut each loaf of bread into 5 pieces, approximately 4 inches long, and then slice horizontally. Fill the bread with the sliced beef and serve with the broth for dipping.
