Spice up family dinner with slow-cooked spicy ground beef picadillo.
Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped (1 cup)
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

  • 2 cans (10 ounces each) diced tomatoes and green chilies, undrained
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds, toasted
Instructions:
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook beef and onion until beef is browned, stirring occasionally. Drain any excess fat.
  • Combine the beef mixture and all remaining ingredients, excluding almonds, in a 3 1/2- to 6-quart slow cooker.
  • Simmer on low heat for 3 to 4 hours until liquid is mostly absorbed, then fold in the almonds.
