Tender slow-cooked chicken wings coated in a caramelized soy-ginger-pineapple glaze, reminiscent of teriyaki from your go-to Japanese spot. Prep in 10 minutes, return to fall-off-the-bone perfection in six hours. A savory-sweet appetizer delight.
Ingredients:
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 lb chicken wings (24)
  • Sliced green onions
Instructions:
  • Combine all ingredients in a very large bowl, ensuring the mixture is smooth and the sugar is completely dissolved, excluding the chicken wings and green onions.
  • Coat chicken wings in marinade by stirring gently. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  • Transfer the marinated chicken into a 4- to 6-quart slow cooker.
  • Pour 1 cup of the flavorful marinade into the slow cooker, then dispose of any extra marinade.
  • Cover and cook on High heat setting for 4 to 5 hours, or until the chicken juices run clear when the thickest part is cut to the bone and the internal temperature reaches 165°F. Transfer the chicken wings to a large platter, sprinkle with green onions, and serve with cooked white rice, if desired.
