Tangy sweet-and-sour chicken with a twist, cooked low and slow for maximum flavor and minimal mess.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 packages (1.5 lb each) bone-in chicken thighs, skin removed
  • 3/4 cup chili sauce
  • 1/3 cup orange marmalade
  • 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions:
  • Prepare the slow cooker by coating it with cooking spray. In a large nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Brown chicken for 8 to 10 minutes, turning occasionally until both sides are golden (you may need to cook in batches if all the chicken pieces don't fit in the skillet).
  • Place the chicken in the slow cooker and cover it. Cook on Low heat setting for 6 to 7 hours until the chicken is tender. About 30 minutes before serving, heat the sauce ingredients in a 1-quart saucepan over medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
  • Remove any extra liquid from the slow cooker, then pour the sauce over the chicken and cook for an additional 10 to 15 minutes.
