Succulent smoked chicken legs with a smoky applewood or maple flavor and a tasty barbecue rub. Easy to make and versatile.
Ingredients:
  • 12 chicken drumsticks
  • 0.25 cup vegetable oil, or as needed
  • 0.33333334326744 cup BBQ rub
Instructions:
  • Arrange the drumsticks on a rack over a drip tray or baking sheet and refrigerate uncovered for 8 hours to overnight to air-dry.
  • Heat up your electric smoker to 275 degrees F (135 degrees C) and place wood chips as per manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Lightly coat the drumsticks with vegetable oil and then toss them in a resealable plastic bag with the rub until evenly coated.
  • Arrange the drumsticks on the smoker rack and smoke until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C), approximately 2 hours.
