Spiced cookies that taste like Grandma's kitchen, with a tasty twist included.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 3 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour*
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Additional sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. In a large bowl, cream together sugar, sour cream, butter, shortening, molasses, and egg using an electric mixer on medium speed or mix by hand. Add flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, and salt, then mix until well combined.
  • Using ungreased cookie sheets, place rounded tablespoonfuls of dough about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes until center is slightly firm. Allow to cool for 1 to 2 minutes, then transfer to cooling racks. Sprinkle with extra sugar while still warm.
